I sharpen Bandsaw blades for the public and have had a good customer that has become concerned about the very tip of the blade being blued. I am talking about less than a 1/32 of an inch. My thoughts are that since I use a high speed sharpener in oil that running the tip to it's euclidean edge a blue at the very tip worse case scenario is that I had hardened the tip and won't hurt anything.
Please understand this is the very tip and is not a case of hogging metal.

I don't know what system you have , but if I blue mine I am either taking too much metal or going too fast.  Tim
Never explain, your friends don't need it, and your enemies won't believe you any way.

JS,how are the bands cutting for him? and is his bandlife good.Have his bands always been this way??Sounds like he read somewhere or someone told him your doing it wrong,if he's getting good service and normal life its a non matter. The real problem is blue hard where the set needs to be bent or gullet. If he's a real good customer have you tried backing off the feed and the amount ground or redirecting the coolant oil.Frank C.

He is a large customer and very set in his ways. The blades are cutting fine.
