its not a pto...ita a winch drive.....do not put in or out of gear with the motor running you will break something..........it drives off the pressure plate thats how it has live power to the winch

You can leave the winch engaged all of the time. The later models did not include the shifting lever. The hole were the lever goes into the trans is plugged. I think that the winch shifter was more trouble than it was worth. I work in the cold and it is better to keep the winch Hydro oil circulating to warm it as much as possible.

Yes, Leave the Winch Engaged.. Just use the Cable & Lever mounted to the seat to mannage the winch.. Seen a few things get torn up when the Lever is engaged/disengaged when the skidder is running.. Only other big problem i have ever had with my 440 is the Front axle difflock malfunctioned and if the diff lock is engaged it will pump the front axle full of hydraulic fluid till it blows axle seals... That and the fact my new engine is putting out over twice the stock HP ;D so clutches slip, and i have a few Tire and U-joint issues.. :D

fuel tank......that wont be fun .....have to break the skidder in half to replace tank i would build a tank if i needed one. if you have one built make sure they put the sump from the old tank to catch any water.

I changed mine over so that i'm actually using the water drain as the supply for my Fuel.. Makes it so i can run more of the fuel out of the tank.. had it this way for 6 years now and I hardly ever see more than a drop or 2 of water in my Fuel filter at Filter change (500 Hours)
