Just replaced the back/forth motor on a '95 LTHD w/24Onan.  (thing only lasted a little over 15 years)  The old one had a spacer plate that looks like it was specifically for clearance on the front bearing.  The new motor does not have an exposed bearing.  Is there any reason to put the spacer plate back in place?  One thing it will do is push the electrical connections closer to the chain (these are exposed where the old one was enclosed.  Having a problem getting the belt snug now, it's a standard 48x280 that's fairly new.  The new motor is rubbing on the battery ground wire that comes out of the box on the front side.  May have to go to a shorter belt...don't know if that'll work or not.
Work's fine for killing time but it's a shaky way to make a living.

Give woodmizer a call. There Tech support is the best.  ;D

Motor 006747 replaces Motor 014359 supplied prior to 11/08. .6HP motor directly replaces .49HP motor P04140 (Discard end cap
supplied with motor). Requires two rubber boots (P03807) to protect external motor terminals. Use brush kit 061794 for new motor.
Motor 014359 changed by vendor 7/07.

I would say to leave the spacer out. Are the bearings on the pulley shaft ok? I have seen the shaft wear where the bearing rides on the shaft.
The original belt is still used today.

Thanks Marty.  By pully shaft I take it to mean the shaft the motor turns?  I rebuilt that while back and replaced the chain.  I will look in town for some rubber boots for the end connectors.  That would be a good item to either include in the pack or at least make mill owners aware of when ordering.   Jim, you're right, you can't beat WM tech support, but the issue came up after hours and this is the next best place for counsel.

If you have trouble finding the boots, stop by a junk yard and look under the hood of a few chevy trucks and you should be able to find a handfull of them.

Yea, I tried spark plug boots but had to modify them..next time I have to order something from WM I probably will just get a couple.  It requires a flat boot rather than a straight or 90°.
