Was cutting some firewood outside my shop yesterday morning and my chain had about had it so I thought I would throw a new one on. Well being just outside the shop I took it in and did it on the bench which was a rare luxury. Thing is when I got it and apart I noticed the bar had a burr starting so I took that off and ground it, also closed the rail on it and cleaned it all up. Then I noticed my sprocket was about ready to fly apart so I put a new one on. Then cleaned up the chain brake and also the air cleaner. Thought what the heck and also put a new starter cord on it was getting short. Even took a wrench out and went over all the screws and mount bolts. Started it up and adjusted the carb. Went over the rakers a tad and ran a round file over the chain just to get it so it was purrrfectly sharp.  Boy did that ever make my saw happy :D ...me to!

Yep , amazing what a man can do when he has access to a work bench  :D

A little easier doing it on the work bench versus trying to wedge it in the step of the skidder to hold it, right?

Hey northwoods, that's a classic case of "one thing leads to another" and in the end you're really happy you did it all.

Yes, it's much easier in the garage, plus actually having the time TO DO IT, is awesome! Much easier than on top of a stump on the back 40.

When its pouring rain or blowing snow outside and no cutting that day,my saws each get some one on one on the workbench. Wood stove has a slow burn, radio on, tools and files within reach . And yes the bench vise, air compressor and chain breaker/ spinner also come in real handy. Sometimes I wish I could do this full time and forget about cutting wood for a living.

When I was a kid, my father and I and my brothers worked this farm. Dad was always fixing something in the workshop while my brothers and I were milking or haying or doing whatever needed to be done. I used to think "Poor Dad, always stuck in the workshop by himself."
Well, years later after I married and raised a family of my own I realized Dad wasn't "stuck" in the workshop... he was enjoying himself away from the women and the kids. :D :D

A rare luxury.. Work bench. I'm on my fourth work bench. Same barn. For some reason they're always turning into....shelving units. :-\
