I started with bare ground and built my shop than a house.  Since I planned for the house to be 250' from the transformer I asked the power company to boost my voltage.  Simple task, they just wire the transformer to a different tap.  I'm getting 248/124 volts at the house and shop.

In the shop I frequently run a 10 HP compressor, 3 HP dust collector, and 2 HP wood lathe all at the same time.  The shop has 100 amp service (actually 200) but the power company would only allow 100 amp breaker at the transformer.  REA companies have quirky rules.

I'm not sure what my voltage is but I let someone tap in my line that's a half mile long. I said are you sure the lines big enough. He said it's the same size that they installed in Cabela's hunting store and a subdivision with 50 plus houses 😂
