We just cut down 2 Cottonwood trees, Aprox 2000 BF. What should I cut it too, what is value and where should I look to sell it?

I understand horse people like cottonwood for stalls and fencing-supposedly horse won't chew on it.
Mobile Demension sawmill, Bobcat 873 loader, 3 dry kilns and a long "to do" list.

I cut some down a couple of years ago and tried to make construction lumber out of it. First problem was shake next one was even with a lot of weight on it it still moved during drying. Now when we get one that needs to be removed I sell it to the local pallet mill. They pay 15-20 cents a bd ft for logs picked up at my place.

I find cotton is best used while still green for construction...up two 2 weeks after cutting...I have used it to build sheds...worked great
Sells in my area of southern Ill for 3-5 cents on stump...16-18 cents fob at mill

We cut a bunch of it today, the logger is going to use it to build a new shed.

2 x 6 for the perlins and 2 x 12 for the roof trusses.

Nice looking stuff, and easy to saw.
Got my WM lt40g24, Setworks and debarker in oct. '97, been sawing part time ever since, Moving logs with a bobcat.

duke In this kiln dried world....Its nothin knew to build outta green wood...here in rural midwest most all the farmhouses and barns were made that way years ago ...and they are still there....the only thing to bear in mind is load bearing statistics...cotton is much stronger than pine anyhow....green wood becomes dry even with nails in it!
