i just love it when i am the last to know anything :D :D :D :D :D :D

have you considered buying your own mill? as i understand it there isnt a lot of that kind of thing going on in your neck of the woods, but i could be late on that info too. a fella could make a decent sideline out of marketing his own lumber. on mine i make twice as much as a mill will give for my logs and some money for cutting them up. this does hinge on whether there is anyone in your area cutting custom lumber. good hickory makes good ties and dunnage or even grade boards to make flooring.
when i began logging some of my place, the nearest mill that would buy would only pay $.18 ft on logs smaller than 14''. that meant many of my trees would not be worth cutting. now i sell those same logs turned into lumber for $.60 bd ft.  thats $.30 for the log and $.30 for sawing. not to mention that i usually get 1/3 to 1/4 more bdft than the doyle scale on those small logs. now i aint setting the world on fire or nothing but i am making the most out of some timber that wasnt worth much to anyone else.
