Anybody know how to reset the change oil message on a dashboard? It's an annoying thing that I keep forgetting to tell them to do for me when I get the oil changed. My truck is a 2005 silverado.

All Chevrolet pickups 2000 and newer take 3 quick pumps of the gas pedal with the key on and the engine off ;)

Don't you just love things that are intuitively obvious to the most casual observer?  Everyone should be able to figure that solution easily. :D :D :D :D

Yeah, I mean who doesn't press their gas pedal when the car isn't running?

I've been turning the steering wheel all the way left and all the way right and the press the brake pedal twice, but nothing has happened yet ??? :D

Yes it has Ty, the brake lights came on twice.

I had that oil change reset problem in my van... I hate to admit it, but I had to resort to actually reading the owner's manual !  (Actually, I called the guy who did the oil change and asked if I could bring it back in. He said "sure... if you want to. Or you could just look it up in the owner's manual.)

my brother has a newer 2500HD.  He said that stupid light wont go off, im going nuts.  Well I have the same truck, and already read the owners manual, and knew about the gas pedal thing.  I told him, and he looked at me like I was an idiot.  His exact words were, "Im not falling for that, what do you think I am an idiot?"  Yes brother we do :D

It's easy to overlook the obvious for sure. I will say though, mooseherder  replied before I could have even found that owner's manual.

The Magicwoman told me about a "tire pressure" light that was on in her car.  OK, I just got out the tire pressure gauge and checked them all.  32 psi.   ???  Now what?  Time for an oil change so I just told the dealership guy this morning to take care of that light.  Duhhh, I didn't know that the spare had a pressure sensor also.   :-[ :-[

I'm just not really sure about where we will be 25 years from now when no new computer boards are available for these cars that will be antiques then.   :-\
