I had a square log once.  It was a 28x28 pecan log, and I made money on it too.  I let it rot, then picked up all the scrap metal. ::) :D

Always thought some enterprising young genetic engineer with a yen for forestry could make a fortune designing square trees, that grew fast, to say, 16', then started limbing out.

600mm square just about ;D :D

or this little guy, not so big but a bit better behaved on the square growing side of things, this one was only about 400-450mm across
