My wife and I took off this weekend for her birthday, our anniversary sort of, "get away".  We took my uncles old '55 chevy and homemade camper for a trip up to Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota and had a great time.  Here are a few pictures of the trip.

This was our "sweet" ride  ;D

Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota, that's a LOT of water moving,  I'd say at least 4x as much as the last time I was there.

Just me and my wife, I look really scrungy but hey, we were just going fishing anyway.

Time to head back to the "real world", had a really nice bunch camping next to us and took that pic.

Just a little background on the camper, my Uncle built it and has taken it Down the Al-Can Highway 17 times, not to mention the other highways listed there.  I was lucky enough to go with him on the '88 trip, that truly was the trip of a lifetime.  He now suffers from post polio disease and I think just knowing that camper was back on the road meant as much to him as it did to my wife and I.  I have more faith in that old '55 than I do in my 2002, and better yet if it breaks down on the side of the road, that one I can fix  :).

I would recommend that you start a traveling log book and record all of your adventures.  It will be interesting and helpful to be able to look back at previous travels.

BTW, I love the ride and camper.   smiley_thumbsup

Norm, the fishing was terrible, if there is such a thing.  We fished at least 7 hrs straight and got 4 bites between the 2 of us.  Only thing that made us feel better was everyone we talked to that day had the same luck.  We talked to one game warden that said they had been having good luck with walleye, and they were jumping all over, but everyone he talked to said the same thing as us.  We packed up early and came home to fish in our regular little spot and caught a few  :-\.  The trip was still a blast. :)

And yes, that old rig draws a lot of attention, almost took the signs off the back on the way up from people tailgating trying to read them.

Autocar

Cool rig,I'll second it a fellow can repair those older trucks  ;)
