If you've never experienced a forum Christmas contest, one is about to commence. I'll start a new topic soon, but I thought maybe some of you contest veterans could give some advice, or at least words of warning wisdom to the rookies.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Read the directions carefully.  All the clues are in there and even some of the answers.

Yeah, but sawmills you can figure out eventually. :D
OH Goody. I was just remarking to Pat the other night that is has been a long time since I spent several nights in a seemingly never ending pursuit of some elusive and not-so-clearly defined 'thing'. I was lamenting that these full nights of sleep are beginning to get kind of boring and I longed for spending my time in mis-directed energy on a elusive goal all the while wondering if it is even achievable.
Advice for the first timers? Yeah, buckle up buttercup, this ain't a walk in the park like the Sunday times crossword puzzle. This one is work. Open up 3 different browsers and standby. Good luck to everyone.

That's not a good sign right there.

I would venture to say that as soon as the contest is released the energy consumption around the country drops because saws, mills, and planers go silent during the pursuit phase.

Given SD's observation, which is likely spot on, unfortunately, I think we are in for a good one, adding to that Jeff's 'adjustment' of adding another week for completion should make one shudder just a little. I for one, will add another pound of coffee to our monthly shopping list. As frustrating and maddening as it can be at times, The Contest has become one of the season highlights for me.

Another tip is to keep a writing tablet and pencil with a significant eraser by the computer or phone.

Jeff

This year, I predict a T.V. and a comfortable chair, and some viewing company will be highly beneficial. :)

oh boy.
This brings to mind the countless hours I spent reviewing thousands of gallery photos looking for answers to the 'simple' bonus question leading up to the last pig roast.

Chet, there is no telling until we see what we are up against, but I think Jeff might be hinting at you tube videos, but again, I gave up a few years back trying to guess how his mind works.
