If a person has a small air tight home and heats it with a wood stove  is there any chance of depleting the oxygen inside the home and waking up dead ??  Is it necessary to have an out side air intake for the stove ??

We can survive pretty well with a decrease in the percentage of oxygen in the air.  I do not think oxygen depletion is an issue in your hypothetical.  I think carbon monoxide poisoning is much more likely to cause the demise of an occupant of such a dwelling.  So I would be more concerned about the stuff coming out of the stove than the loss of oxygen going into it.

Part of the problem is the verbiage "air tight" home.  If we lived inside a mayonaise jar, we wouldn't need a fire to eventually deplete all the oxygen and die.

Of course. That's how zombies are created.  :D

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)

Basically yes.

If the rest of the house was totally sealed the fire would stop drawing up the flue very quickly, and just start smoking out the house. Without that air draft it's going to happen quickly, like you aren't even going to get the fire lit properly before you are smoked out.

If there is enough draft to keep the fire burning properly, you will also be OK for O2.

When I was working for the state they were called envelope houses. The air has to change in a house so many times per hour. It's not healthy to have to tight of a home without the air changing.Seems like some on here have put a air outlet, for no better word,by the wood stove. I doubt you would wake up dead.  :D  But feeling run down or not well is very possible.

You only use about 4% of the oxygen you take in with every breath. Probably as doc and Ian said, it'll likely be carbon monoxide poisoning that gets you from being smoked out. Those types of homes use air exchangers.

Jim!!

I've got an idea. Change the thought from Oxygen depleting to carbon sequestration and sell "tight home" ideas to meddlesome NGO's as a carbon storage device.  :D

Maybe they will come up with a rea-a-ally tight one and live in it to show us how it's done.  ;D

I don´t see much global warming any more but it is now climate change.  Next thing that that they will promote is eliminating the four seasons as that is certainly climate change.  DONATE  HERE TO ELIMINATE SUMMER  and one of our friendly Non Profit groups will certify it.

The climate change / global warming is running out of gas here.  The new one is save the uncontacted tribes.  This is a good one, here is a new group promoting the fact that the uncontacted tribes are more or less forming a lobby.  It in other words must it be thru spirits of something as they are uncontacted.  This is the new push and full of garbage and double talk and simple lies.

And of course you can DONATE by Paypal.  These people have no shame.
