I am new at sawmilling. I bought a Logmaster LM1 about a month ago and am finally getting the time to start using is quite a bit.  I just have a couple questions.  First, the band seems to move back and forth on the bandwheels.  It also comes off quite a bit.  I am wondering if something isn't level or I dont have the band tightened enough, and where the best spot to begin would be.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The band should'nt do either, it should stay in the same place on the wheel and not come off unless you knock it off on the way back.   Thing to check would be bad bearings, loose or broken bolts on the saw head mounting, maybe a wheel is loose on the shaft.  Something has to be moving around for the band to move.    Steve

A bent band will do that.  A band that has cracks and is destined to break will do that too.

Change bands to a new one.

If all bands ride back and forth, you might not have a crown on the wheels (see the manufacturer).  You might also have a bearing going out on the bandwheel.

Too much or lack of tension won't usually cause this.

Are your wheels flat or crowned. I had the same problem on my Timberking. From the factory it had flat wheels. I took it to a machinest and he said it had a .025 run out wich is not much. He called Cooks to find out the best way to solve the problem. They recommended putting a crown on the wheels. That solved my problem and I haven't thrown a blade since. By the way if your wheels are flat there is no room for error. They have to be perfect. I hope this helps. Good luck.
