Spent some quality time with the boys this weekend.  Got the deck done yesterday.  I will try to keep this thread updated as the boys keep building.

Two boys is always a good start for a treefort!

They're the right age to really enjoy it, just teach them the safety issues!

;D Good for them, keep us posted.

A great project. They'll always remember their experience of building and playing in it. I can still remember the one I built 65 years ago.

Be careful up there.
Are they going to start a local chapter of the "He-Man Woman-Haters Club"? :D

No, they have to let their sisters and their Mom up there too. :)

Great project...how exactly is the deck attached to the tree? I've been mulling over a few designs for my sons tree house and yours looks really good.
What is this leisure time of which you speak?

The two bottom logs are lagged to the tree, and the V's sit between them.  There is a plate across the top of each leg of the V's and the joists sit on that.  It was not very sturdy until I nailed the joists on and the ones beside the tree I nailed to the tree.  I still plan to add a couple of braces to make sure it will never come down, even when the boys have a big party up there.  I will try to take more pictures next time I am out there, but right now I am busier than the proverbial one legged man at a butt kicking contest. whiteflag_smiley

Be sure to remember which of your trees has nails in it.  :D

nas

I will.  There's a treefort attached to it :D

I sure wish I were there watching.  It sounds like fun.  :)

Norm

I spent plenty of time in tree forts as a kid and enjoyed every minute of it.  :)

Looking forward to updates Nick.

Oh man! Does this take me back in time. Back to 1958 when I was 10 years old and my uncle helped me build a tree house. I spent a lot of time in it. It was in the woods and I used to watch the wildlife walk by below me. Happy happy memories.

Nas, your boys are going to have such a good time in that fort. And you are going to have a very good time watching your kids have a good time. Good times ahead for your family.

Got a bit of time in at the treefort yesterday.

The boys got the floor done last time

I helped them get the corners up for the walls

They are getting a start on the slab walls.  Don't ask why they put one board between the slabs.  I don't know ;D.
