I ran across this little forwarder while watching youtube . I googled it and found it on this web site.                  http://www.alstor8x8.co.uk/
It has a lot of different attachments that would make it a real handy toy

It does look like it would be a good machine if you wanted a machine just to cut your own land, and you weren't doing to much at a time, but I would be concerned about outgrowing that 16hp engine real quick.... If the land was even a little hilly I think that might be a big problem....

I believe they are 80k also and that makes it tough for the average landowner to acquire...

A little pricy...stuff like that always is...four wheel drive tractor with forestry cage might be a better bet...log cart with a loader arm...

Or two good mules and seventy eight thousand in the bank...

Youtube has several videos with them loaded on rough terrain even some with over tire tracks.   They had several  neat attachments.   I have a friend that worked in Sweden.     His  Father in law works for a company that has one  with a drill rig on the back.     Its interchanges beds and has a loader on the trailer and in the  winter its used to log.

Seems to me that it would be a good machine for thinning wood lots.

hahahahahaha.... but they don't come in both diesel and petrol options...

Ford_man

It looks like a "fun" little machine but I would take an old beat up 4 wheel drive farm tractor over one of those things around here.

If it is too new and shiny they will wreck it or try to steal it, parts would be hard to get when it breaks down.
Around here now you can't invest any money in forestry equipment, it has to be cheaper than cheap, no big loans anymore, probably the "mule" man is on the right track all things considered...

zopi

For the record...I prefer a brace of oxen...slow, but not as likely to snatch you in two at the drop....

I like on one of the videos with the long row of woo. they said that was 4 days work. Over 200 tons of wood. They must of been working all night long that little thing dont seem that fast. I wonder what size machine they were useing out in the woods to cut all that wood down and pile it up? It was probly the alstors daddy. Still all in all i wouldnt mind having the little tyke.

YupperYooper

It's a cool machine, but if it's really pricey, then one would be better off getting something larger, and used.  Time will tell how well they hold up.

I always look at those machines and think of rich landowners in Europe making parkland in their woodlands. ;) The guy that only cuts 30-60 cords a year on his 100 acres from thinnings is beat at the gate.
