So far so good!  Really impressed with the unit, no smoke at all when the by pass is shut. Which it is always unless you are loading wood. Had heat and hot water a hour or so after start up. Really a good feeling Turing up the heat knowing it's not coasting anything but my labor ;D

Congrats. Yes I know the feeling about cheap heat. I just got my CB 5036 and fired up about a week ago. *DanG impressive. I am used to my house staying 59 because that's all I could afford. Now at 73 it feels great and I know it's not costing me a dime more. Already have winter paid for

The marraige of saving money and heating with wood lasts a long time.

Congratulation on getting your E-classic 1400 up an running.  I agree and I have been reflecting back on when ours was put on line for the first time after reading your post.  It is a great feeling to be utility company free.

Each season brings out the same feelings.  I started ours up 3 weeks ago and have been burning just the unstackables.

If you don't mind me asking.  What is the serial number of your unit?  The serial number of mine is 100092.   I am just curious how many have been made.  When I bought mine, the dealer had two, one was serial number in the teens and then the one I choose.  Also, my firmware version is 2.51.  What is the firmware version of yours?

Ohiowood

Hey Dean,

My ser number is 100788. Don't know where I would find the firm number?
How often do you clean ash or any other cleaning on the boiler? And any other suggestions

Thanks

Ohiowood

Have you ever had yours not fire back up in warmer weather?

Dean186

Thanks for the serial number.  I corrected and added all the leading serial numbers to my earlier post.  If they have sequenced their numbers for just the 1400s from 0 to 788, then that tell us something about how many units have been sold.

Don't know where I would find the firm number?

The firmware version is displayed by pressing the down arrow.  The up arrow displays max temperature setting.

There is a lot I would have to share about the operation etc, but it would be a lengthy write and read.  Some of it can be found by looking at my old posts.  I will try to answer the two questions you asked.

It took me a while to get my settings for the warmer weather.  The factory default settings would not work for me with the type of wood that I use.  I need to go out to the unit to verify the settings, but I believe it is set to come on for 1 minute every 20 minutes.

I clean the heat exchanger, reaction chamber and firebox every two weeks or more.  The time line will depend on the type of wood I am burning, temperature and when I have the time.  Sometimes it is more or less.

I will lightly scrape the sides and verify that the holes in the back are clear every other time I load wood.  Again, sometimes I go 2-3 day without doing anything but putting wood in the stove.  The light scrape takes less than a minute.  I use three different tools if I want to be picky.  I have found that the hole design on the 1400 does not have much of a problem with plugging up with just a little attention.

Give you another metric on how many e classics are being made / sold.
Mine was manufactured 12/10 and has a serial ending in 569.

New to Forum (Thanks for all the FREE info).  Just wanted to add that I just fired up my new e-classic 1400 last Friday.  It ends with 855 and had a manufacturing date of 5/11.  It has been mild here in Michigan for the most part and my fire went out a couple times the first week but thanks to the suggestion of DEAN186 on changing the idle purge time I have been FO free (FO is displayed when the fire is out...i realize most of you know this...lol.)  The max I could go was 50 seconds which also is the default, but the time between purges defaults to 30 minutes and I have lowered it to 20 to match.

I will have to recheck the firmware but I think mine said 5.8 when I started it up (I will update on that if necessary).  But for sure when I push the up arrow it displays the reaction chamber temp so that must be something they have changed recently.

Welcome to the forum baloo and glad you dropped in to say hi  ;D

Let us know how you like the 1400 after you have a couple cords through it.  Seems from what I've read on here people are very happy with it.    ;)

I did not know that.  ;)

Welcome to the forum baloo75,

Thanks for the serial number information upsnake and others.

My serial number 092 was manufactured on 07/09.  I think the very first units came out early 2009.  I bought mine a couple months after the marked manufacturer's date.  I am not sure any of the 1400's sold to the public were put into operation before the winter of 2009.

I have a question to the newer 1400 owners.  Are the two airflow led indicator lights still part of the design?  They are located on the side of the air box in the rear of the unit.
