I'm thinking about trading a load of firewood to a friend for a 036. The saw needs a piston and cylinder. I see flea bay has Nikasil aftermarket for cheap. Need opinions please.

Welcome to the forum.  You might try Bailey's for a p/c for this saw.  I don't know what they sell on eBay but the ones from Bailey's have had good things said about them, and they sponsor the forum.  They're great to deal with, and I'm sure they can get you the parts. How much firewood you trading for a toasted saw?

Thanks for the welcome and for the info. I'm jus trading a full size truck load of wood for it. I bet not even a cord. The guy is a friend of mine he cuts wood also. Hes in turn trading the wood for a worn out dump truck lol. Its one big horse trade. I cant cut wood fast enough to keep up. I usually have it sold before it hits the truck bed. 7 loads in about 10 days. Plus working full time.

Ducksnuff870, Welcome! Aftermarket parts will work, they are cheaper for a reason. If the saw is a keeper, treat it to OEM parts, they are well worth the extra money! Tim

You may be able to save the cyl. (hopefully )  If you buy a piston from Baileys get the meteror brand seem to be a little better they are Itailan  . I have two 036 I have rebuilt with them and they are still going. They are great saws, and Baileys is a great company with great service.
