I have a friend named Tom Svec. I dry slabs for him and I give him wood that I have dried while testing kilns or schedules. He gave me a table last weekend and I took some pictures while at his shop.

That's a live edge counter top.

That's an Elm rocker. The wood came from a tree that died on the campus of PSU.

I thought that is an interesting design. One piece of threaded rod with nuts holding the table together.

That is a Soft Maple coffee table with Cherry trim. It's so smooth it feels like plastic!

A wormy coffee table.

Free form Walnut top.

A table that should have had me shooting from the other side.

This is some good stuff! I believe Mr. Svec has got a talent. Mt favorite is the Walnut top table and then the wormy Maple. I could look at work like this all day!
Thanks for sharing Den.

Something about that last table issuer appealing.  Are there actually gaps between the boards?  It also looks like the boards are different widths, awesome.

Tom does have a lot of talent. I wish I could look at rough sawn wood and see the works of art that he can see. And I don't know how he gets those smooth, contoured shapes. He obviously isn't afraid of elbow grease!

The last table does have gaps with perfectly parallel edges. I believe the outer 2 boards are the same width.
