hello once again forestry wizards. i have a husky 350 that up until recently have had no problems with. but now, it will rev up real high and regardless if you have your finger on the throttle it stays revved up. even with the switch in the off position, still revs. and it has been getting very hot. i suspect there is a exhaust gasket missing, which is most likely the suspect in that case. i only have two metal contraptions that go in between the cylinder and muffler. any input would be greatly appreciated. i know that i might have shifted the flywheel air gap because i cleaned the whole saw.

check the intake boot for cracking, as far as not shuting off, must be the switch or a bad ground to the switch ::)

Older 350's have a plastic snap lock retainer for the intake boot on the cylinder.

It should be replaced with the later metal one.

You can use a business card to set flywheel/coil air gap.  Gap is .012.  Don't run your saw until you find the air/vacuum leak.  As w8ye said intake boot clamp and old 030 said intake boot is a good place to start for high rev.  Muffler is known for getting loose should have a gasket in between the muff. and the steel heat deflector.  Here is the order: cyl., alum heat shield, steel heat shield, gasket, muffler.

thank you all for the info. i will check the boot when i get home.

I believe all of the old style were black plastic (for the boot and the clamp). The newer ones have a metal clamp.

hello again. come to find out, i had 3 loose cylinder bolts.lol. took the whole saw apart to find out that the rubber boot is a pain to get off the cylinder. runs like new now. thanks for all the input though.

It is typical to remove/install the boot onto the cylinder with the cylinder removed from the saw?
