How is the best or proper way to copy a link to a post without the whole address showing?  Maybe it would say "Link".  I see the "Insert Hyperlink" above but maybe that is not what it is for.  I went to Firefox and there is a "Link" addon ??   Surely there is a simple way.

You need to use the insert hyperlink tags.  Example format:

Forestry Forum Home Page

Gives you this:
Forestry Forum Home Page

There ya go.  Here is another little know secret. If you edit your tags, and it is a link to within the forum someplace, you can force the link to open in the same window, rather than open a new tab or window by simply putting an i in the tags.
New Tab code.

Same tab code. The "i" stands for "internal".

;D   It works better when you put the "i" where it is supposed to go.   smiley_thumbsup

This thing never ceases to amaze me. I've been on here over 5 years, consider myself fairly computer literate, and I just learned something new. Thanks Jeff..

It may well just be me, but I've always appreciated that hyperlinks on the FF open in a new window.  Just sayin...   :)

Magicman

It does seem easier to get back to where you started from.   ;D

For the most part, I like them to open in a new window, but sometimes, it you are leaving something that is best left behind, its nice to have it stay in the same window. This does not work for links outside of the Forestry Forum. I;d say I've maybe used the iurl link a dozen times in the last 5 years. Maybe.

Maybe I should quote a certain PM that I received while I was learning.

"You better be careful Lynn, old dogs that learn more then one new trick a day may shorten their learning time. ;) ;) ;D"

I usually prefer that links open in a new TAB.

(Firefox 3.6 - Tools | Options | Tabs > check the first box.)

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)
