howdy all
thinking about making my own blade rollers . i have some 4140 heat treated rod . the dia is 2 5/16 od . i had read a post somewere earlier that stated the dimension for 1 1/4 wide blade
  wonder if anyone knows ?
if its not broke dont fix it !!!!

Back flange 2.375"OD. x .250"W. Blade contact area 2.000"OD x 1.00"W. Overall length with flange 1.250".  The grooves are .125"W x .125"D. The ID is 1.123" to give you a .002 press fit on an R8 bearing. Are you sure that the chrome moly will be hard enough without tempering? I don't know what the harness rating is, but guide rollers are hard enough that a tool post grinder is needed to true them up. Might be better to just buy them. ( I know, you'll have to make a few more barrels)

There is a product called casinite, that after you do all your machining work you heat the piece with a torch and then immerse it into the powder and let it cool. This will case harden down from the surface about 1/8 inch.

4140 cm is27-33 rockwell
its hard , i had a piece here from a pin and bushing job
if its not broke dont fix it !!!!
