I hear so much about the Dolmar Makita saws and from what I hear they are hard to beat but the lack of dealers is a concern. The 211 does look like it would be perfect for my needs as a limbing saw and its a few pounds lighter haha

That's an issue many have with Dolmar saws. Parts are however easy to find on the net, and I Know a few dealers that will support saws even if they were purchased in a different state. The 211 is lighter, but really can't be compared to a 421. The 421 will cut with most 50cc saws and has a mag case, yet costs about the same as a 211. Believe it or not the earthquake saws from TSC are not bad at all, they are based off a RedMax design, and also have a mag case. For $150 to $200 they're hard to beat

Regardless of the smaller saw you might choose, i would recommend using 3/8 picco B&C setup for limbing the Hedge. Its what i use now as opposed to the .325 i was using. The picco just melts through Hedge with more ease likely due to the narrow kerf. Also vibrates less IMO.

Deerefan1,
In Sept. 2012 I purchased an MS362 with the same fine dust intrusion. Greased the lip of the filter, two attempts of my dealer to correct the problem, I now own a brand new MS362  C-M thanks to Stihl standing behind their product. Send me an email if you want more info.

How long have you had it? There should be a 7 day return policy on a new Stihl saw. If he's not willing to trade it in, you can convert the saw you have to the new HD2 filters for fairly cheap. You might be able to convince him to give you the parts at cost. You'll need the 1140 141 0802 filter housing, 1140 121 6901 baffle, and the 1141 120 1604 HD2 filter. Should total around $50. The only thing I am not 100% sure on is that it will fit under the standard 362 shroud. I'm going to be testing that Thursday since I am out of carb'd 362's to play with.
Did you ever find out if the filter arrangement will fit under the original cover?

My dealer said they were unable to fit the newer filter to my 362, so I ended up with the C-M thanks to Stihl.

NS logging

I have enjoyed reviewing this discussion.  I buy a new stihl annually after cutting (on average) 800 cords of wood behind the skidder and 80-100 cord of 16" firewood every year.  I have always wondered if the fine sawdust was causing damage but didn't care enough to actually take action.  This discussion has been extremely informative thank you to all

You can get it under the cover, but it takes a bit of effort. I have all the parts on order to convert one this coming weekend I hope. I'll be doing a how-to post when I get it all done. There is a lot of interest in this from my customers.

That has been an often reported issue with the MS362 - but I don't reall know if it really is a srious isue.

Peoples perception of what is acceptable vary a lot, as do cutting conditions....

Someone has on a different saw forum. You will need a new top cover, the old one wont fit.
