Hi all, got myself a nice looking husqvarna 55. Cleaned
it all up, new chain and adjusted carburator. It runs like
new. The air injection works really well.
It's my first husqvarna saw, if you don't count the
jonsered 2171.
I still have a question about the chain. Does a semi-skip
or full-skip chisel chain give me better performance ?
All the chains i buy here in Belgium are like the one on
the photograph.

Semi skip is smoother cutting then the full skip, i think the semi skip would be the better choice for the 55 Husky. I had 4 or 5 of them over the yrs, carried-em on the skidders for a quick grab saw to knock tops off or a few limbs. I personally wouldn't buy one to cut firewood with. Its a good felling saw in plantation pine or anything up to 8-10", good limbing saw for small stuff.

I can't see the chain very good, from what i can see looks to be filed poorly. The right side a little high, the left side to low. Try get some better pictures.

No need for skip or semi-skip on a bar that small. If your gonna buy skip or semi-skip chain for a saw.....youre gonna need a real saw & a real bar.

Nice ole 55 fer shure !!

Looks like Oregon BPX?

A 55 with a wore out chain, with the cutters breaking off, cut way better then if it had a new chain on it.

AdkStihl, i bought a new 08S like the one in the picture in 65. That saw well cut better with a semi-skip chain on it. I really liked the saw, it wasn't a good balanced saw for limbing.

That chain will cut okay on that saw .It's anti kickback chain so you can't plunge cut with but just how many plunge ---not many .

The chain is actually a brand new one, came right out of the box and has not yet been filed.
I will post a better picture. The semi-skip chain would be for the 066 or the dolmar ps9000.

Like i said, i can't see it , must be casting some funny shadows.
Theres no edge on-em out of the box.

Both those saws well handle a full skip.
