After sitting over the winter, my 630 wouldn't start last spring.  I tried everything I could think of and than bought a new 372XP.  I put the 630 on the shelf for another summer and winter.  Yesterday, I pulled the 630 out, dumped the gas into my recycle can for my weed eater, put in fresh gas and decided to start over.  On the 5th pull, it was running like new.  I have no idea why it wouldn't run last spring.  At least now I have a nice back up.

The gas gets stale after it sits a while .It's a common problem with an easy fix .

I used fresh gas last year too.  I still have no idea why it wouldn't run last year.

:D Maybe the saw was just lonesome and wanted another saw as a roommate.

My Stihl MS 390 gave me the same problem yesterday.  I pulled on the starter cord until my arm was sore, this after cutting and starting well all morning.  I walked away, rested a couple of minutes, and then gave it one pull and it ran like a champ.

As for a real answer perhaps someone can help us both.

Dull chains cause accidents.  Accidents cause shorter life spans.
You don't sharpen a chain when it gets dull.  You sharpen a chain to keep it from getting dull.

If i had to pull more than 4 times on a cold start or more than 1 time when hot something is wrong. Usually the low jet is a little to lean.

I would change gas filter an put a new plug in. If it still did it, i'd open the low jet [counter clockwise] turn just a little, 1/4 might be to much. After doing this you might have to turn the idle screw clockwise a little, so saw idles.

my 630, sometimes is hard to start HOT,       i have to pull it about 6 or 7 times when havent been started for a few days.   Then again,  this one i have to put my foot in the handle, one hand on the front handle holding it down, then other hand to pull the cord.   Never had a saw like this , lots of compression/ power
