A guy wants some of my bodark to make knife handles. It has been air drying for about 6 months. Do you think it would harm it to finish it off in the oven at a low temp?

What is the current MC?

WDH

If it is 4/4, and the m% is 20% or less, it should be OK.

amen to that. Wife came home from shopping and found 4 jugs off my airplane motor in her kitchen oven. They needed to be heated up to 450 deg to press in new valve seats. Looked like a perfect solution to me, but I still get harrased about it years later...

I know two fellows that do small wood carving, They put small pieces of wood in the microwave on a lower setting, said you have to keep a close eye on it,But it works good.Just a thought, Mark,,,,,,,,

I aint real sure what the mc is right now. The only moisture meter I ever had was a cheapie and we all know what cheapies do...

If you had a sacrificial piece drying the same time, same thickness or there abouts. Weigh it first, and dry it in the oven until no weight change. Then figure it. ;)

Ovens .Years ago I could have bought a commercial large oven for 30 bucks .Big one .I've kicked myself every since .Perfect to stick a cast iron cylinder head or something to preheat it prior to welding repairs .Probabley would cook a pizza real good too except for the lingering smell of motor oil were the parts not clean .

Now just what would happen with say a small piece of lumber like a knive handle if you buried it in kitty litter for a week of so .Fresh kitty litter now not something Puss and Boots had been scatching  around it .

I would think the stuff could suck the moisture out .
