How much does everyone charge for sawing 3/4" lumber? Do you charge by the hour or by the boardfoot ?
Doug

Hourly,
MOST of the time...I repeat...MOST of the time it works out to be ABOUT the same

Hey Dug i just sawed some 3/4 cedar and just charged by the b/f as if it were an inch, the feller was a neighbor so we gave him a good price on it,I had to make a scale to cut the 3/4 as usually all we saw is 1" and up.
got wood?

Tom

I charge by the board foot on most all of my jobs and always have. Anything I cut less than an inch is billed as an inch and I always make that clear when I accept the job. Except for the log handling, your saw is working just as hard to cut thin stuff as it is thick stuff. The biggest difference is the number of pieces the customer realizes from a log.  That is to his benefit.

Above one inch in thickness I work with quarters. :)
