Tree Feller

I just gave a few small Mulberry logs to a friend. He makes bows from it. I think it is related to Osage Orange (Bois d' Arc).

I think that it would make nice end tables, coffee tables, or blanket chest.  It has a nice sapwood to heartwood contrast, and a pronounced grain.  The little that I had I sold to a guy that made segmented turnings.

Pretty good firewood that I can say .The sap is about like latex from a rubber tree .Second cousin to an osage orange it should be about rot proof .

I've turned some mighty pretty lidded boxes, bowls and vases from mulberry on my woodlathe. It has nice color and interesting grain.

I just sorted thru some stuff a customer left here a few years ago,.....neat, and look forward to playing with the dense, heavy intersting stuff.

I use mulberry to make bows, alot like osage orange but lighter in weight and color. It holds it's color better than osage which turns a dark reddish brown.

I have heard that Mulberry was a popular wood to use for Oxen yokes.

Finished my house finally. Completely sawn out on by band mill. It took me 7 years but was worth it. Hardest thing I have ever done.

A lot of folks around here use it for their meat smokers.  It's a pretty common tree around here, the birds love them too and can stain the heck out of anything they leave their "droppings" on.
