Here it is, 5/4 oak and 7x9 ties. Pretty good days work. especially since it took me an hr to start the tractor.

Did you hit the metal or is it still in that tie?

All of the logs were "suspected metal" logs. I hit metal once on the very first cut. I cut around the rest. The metal that caused that gray stain is still safely inside the tie thank goodness. It looks like it might be a pretty big piece.

Most of the lumber was cut with one of my new woodmaster c-sharp's. I would definately reccomend these bands. It hit metal hard enough to knock off two teeth right out of the gate. Most of the teeth had burs of metal stuck to the them. I sharpened it and it cut like a hot knife through butter for about 300bf of muddy oak. Sharpend it again and cut the rest. It was still sharp when I shut down for the day.

To me they look more like mantels than ties. Great work. 8)

That they do! I really have an eye for this stuff right now, as I'm just beginning the installation of all the interior walls at our cabin with "new" looking wood-the part that can be seen. I ran into a guy in the area with a new Hudson mill set-up that's trying to get established, so I'm going to try out some of his wood. His prices are good for me.
