What makes you think that that website is a real legitimate Stihl site?  If you can fake a chainsaw, you can certainly fake a whole company on a website.

The actual Stihl china site is here:
http://www.stihl.cn/
Show us the differences in the 2 sites which is real.

BTW thanks Ian.

I didn't say the first one was real or fake. I simply asked what made you think it was real.  :)

I went to Stihl International, and followed the link they gave me to their Chinese website. That is the url I gave you. I would think that the link from the parent Stihl site certainly would be legitimate. It also says on that chinese page, in english, the the saws are German made.  The reason I suspect something with the link you gave, was the poor web design. You would think that a company as big as Stihl would have a first class website for every country they were in.  The site linked to from the Stihl International site is obviously more professional than the first links given.  I'd think if a chinese company was building knock off stihl chainsaws they have knock off websites as well.

Tamiam of Logrite sent me a link last month to a Chinese website selling Chinese knockoffs of their tools. They had sent her an email actually wanting her to buy knockoff logrite tools from them with a link to a large site with all her tools and more on it. She sent them some sort of negative response, the very next day, we both went back to look again, and the website was gone.

Ahh.. there are two pages linked off the main one.

One is to the products available and dealer network in China, the other (the Stihl-qd) one is only related to the (Genuine) Chinese Stihl factory.

I also see on the Genuine site, they have a page (written in english) on how to spot a counterfeit.
