I am looking for hardhat  with am fm radio muffs. I have seen them before but having a hard time locating one. I don't need the hardhat,if they just sell the snap in muffs, that would be great. Was wondering if anyone could help.

I use a peltor hard hat that has two metal pieces the earmuff cups slide on to. I found a pair of am/fm earmuffs at home despot that fit. they just slide onto the metal arms.

I worked for a guy in Montana, if you played the radio on the way to work he'd fire you.  :o He said your mind is supposed to be on work :P

Interested too.  Like m372 mentioned you can prob make something up yourself by dissecting a pair of muffs. and mating them to your headset mounts.

Thanks for all the replies. I will get a Peltor hardhat and switch the muffs. I have tinnitis and if there is no noise all I hear is the ringing in my ears. Drives me crazy.

Now that I am thinking.

Your better off getting the Peltor Worktunes ear muffs.  Take them off the bands and use your Peltor mounts if you have any.

The Peltor Alert muffs have a twist knob station adjust.  The Worktunes have push button.  I can see the station changing accidentally with the twist button rubbing against limbs.  The Worktunes are about $60, and if you already have a set of Peltor muffs that less than half of what the Peltor Alerts cost.

I have both and the push button station tunning is way better!!  the knop tunning sucks!
I also just bought the work tunes muffs and installed them on my hard hat.  Great when plowing snow in the skidder or when thinning with the bush saw..   I can't live without them I listen to talk radio all day

Is the wire connecting the two muffs long enough to work on a hard hat?

Tj450, I'm on my way over to see Mark Francis, he said he remembers you.

I was wondering that too, Dave.  I was thinking I can route mine between the vents in the hardhat I wear.

the wire goes best under the hard hat shell, but over the suspension.

the stihl and peltor work tunes both had long enough wires for the conversion to helmets.
the stihl was about $80  with dial tuning >:(
The work tunes one from peltor was on sale for $49 and had the push button digital tuning ;D
It is a little harder on batteries for some reason and the beeping it makes when low on batteries is a little annoying.  You can also preset up to 5 stations.

One of them has a jack built into it for some reason,  maybe to hook up your phone to it or an mp3 player ???

I think the work tunes can accept your ipod, etc.  Comes with a cable too.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes the worktunes can accept an I-pod or really anything with audio output. I use mine on the tractor and often times will hook up my phone to it and use the MP3 player on that to listen to whatever I want instead of the one radio station we get UP here.
