Thursday I stopped by the Amish Market and picked up a couple of fryers knowing I had multiple purposes for them.

Thursday evening I cooked them on the BGE. I cut out the spines, flattened them and apply a rub. I like the way they grill this way they get a nice smokey flavor. I always cook more than Diane and I can eat so we will have leftovers.

From the leftovers I cut up some breast meat to make southwest pizzas for our pizza party Friday night. We ran 10 pizzas on the egg 3 of them were the southwesterns.

Now they weren't done yet I had stripped the carcases and saved all the bones and skin and most of the dark meat. I boiled this for about an hour and it smelled great. The smokey chicken smell made the whole house smell great. I fished out the bones and skin, added a bunch of the leftover fix ens from the pizza party, sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms and made chicken noodle soup.

So that's the afterlife of a couple of fryers at my house.  ;D

My advice on aging gracefully... ride fast bikes and date faster women, drink good tequila, practice your draw daily, be honest and fair in your dealings, but suffer not fools. Eat a hearty breakfast, and remember, ALL politicians are crooks.

Love the variety of use, I am a real leftovers person myself. Don't recognize the term BGE? Would someone enlighten me please.

BGE = Big Green Egg. It is an expensive but very versatile ceramic grill/cooker/smoker.
Located due west of Due West.
