All, I have been using a Stihl 084, with a 48" bar and rip chain with an Alaskan saw mill and mini mill to get my furniture grade lumber. The saw has quit oiling, and looking for advice for rebuilding the oil pump, or location of an oil pump kit. Or even an blown 084 that I could possibly parts out? Any ideas?
Thanks,

Make sure the oil pickup body is clean of any debris and check that all oil passages are clear before spending any $

It might not be the pump itself .I've never worked on one but according to the IPL the pump is driven by a tab protruding from the clutch drum .It could well be the linkage to the pump could be faulty  not driving the pump .

Baileys has a lot of new replacement parts. I know that for the 044 sized stihl's a new pump assy is around 40 bucks. Can't imagine a new pump for an 084 being a lot more.

Ever considered using an outboard oiler? Lots of CSM millers attach a tank yo the mill & run a drip tube from the tank to the bar. Milling is demanding and requires a good flow of oil. Even with the saw oiling well, it might be something to look in to.

My 084 oils real well. So far I haven't had any issue with it not oiling, but have had other saws stop oiling. It's most generally something easy & simple like a piece of debris plugging it up on one end.

kskingfish, replaced a oil pump on my friend's 084 last spring, spline gear was worn to the point that it was slipping causing the oil pump not to work.We went to the Sthil dealer and parts were available to my surprise,if not now i'd go to Chainsawz or Baleys, some parts are on that saw are starting to be hard to get.
