At the end of march, me and a few friends go camping every year. Rain, snow, sleet, or shine. We load up trucks and trailers with all the slabwood we can haul for the camp fire. Last year we made a couple benches out of misfit boards that I had put in the slabs. This year I have been saving all of my misfit boards for just this purpose. A lot of the boards are "wedges" from taper sawing, thick boards that have metal in them, and boards where the band decided to act up or break. We should have enough to build a picnic table, a few benches, and a buffet bar for all the hamburger/hotdog fixins and the ribs  ;D we all chiseled our names and the date into one of the benches we made last year but someone burnt it after we left the camp. Oh well, we will probably leave all of our stuff there this year to for the next campers just like we did last year.

Where is your camp relative to where you are now?

Any pics of the benches, etc. ??

The camp is about 10 miles from my house, 30 or 40 miles for most of the people that camp where I do. I have pics from last year, I'll see if I can find them.

That's a great use for discarded slabs and scraps. I had a customer use some from an oak I milled with the chainsaw to make some garden benches a few years ago.

that's a good idea Hack,  I kinda do the same in October, using tie ends and miscuts for such uses.
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

I used enough erc slabs for my deer camp fire this year we could probably be seen from outer space! :D

There's always a good use for slabs imo.
