Hi Guys, I was thinking about ordering some new 1 1/2" roller guides to replace my 1 1/4". For the people who have done this, have they noticed a big difference in reduced wavy cuts and faster sawing? At $75 a piece I wanted to get some input before buying them. I'm cutting mostly cedar and some bigger doug fir. I'm running  regular 1 1/2" WoodMizer blades.

Thanks,

It sure seems like a wider roller guide would control the blade better.    Sreve

Highlead, which are we talking about the diameter of the guides or the width. If boath are are adjusted right it shouldn't make any difference so far as diameter. As far as width if you run 1 1/2" bands by all means use 1 1/2" guides likewise with 1 1/4".If your present guides are worn replace them with the larger diameter with the proper width for your bands.Bad bearings can be replaced rather cheaply. Most guides are hardened and difficult to remachine to eliminate wear on the ends. Back when I ran a TimberHarvester, I switched from 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" blades and guides.  I did help, though the blades were a bit more expensive.  I think you'll find it was a good move.
