WOULD LIKE TO HERE EVERYBODYS THOUGHTS ON THE ACCUSET  BEFORE I SPEND THE $2600

Kevin_H.

I have the simple setworks, and I would not have a new machine without the accuset.

It is nice to just tap the down button and go.
Got my WM lt40g24, Setworks and debarker in oct. '97, been sawing part time ever since, Moving logs with a bobcat.

We've had a mill with Accuset for 4 years.  I think they are very worthwhile for production sawing.  I'm not sure if it'd be worth it for the casual sawyer.  While they can be programmed to make very accurate lumber,  there is a learning curve in how to program and use it.

They are awful handy when you want to saw in a "pattern mode" – that is, for example,  if you want to make a 7x9 tie out of the heart and 4/4 lumber off the sides,  you can get to come out right every time.  (You just got to remember what side is up – the 7 or the 9.)

How much of what kind of sawing are you doing?

I have watched sawing with both types of set-works and have not been very impressed with the simple set-works. They do not give you reference were to start cutting, and reguire a "clean-up" cut on the last board. I can do better with a $10 TI calulator than that.

It is not hard to learn how to set it up. It came as part of the Command Control on my Super. I knew what I wanted and did not want to have to think much about anything but sawing. I really like mine. Touch of a button and your back to your own brain power.

I absolutley love mine but I am guessing a lot of folks who have it, have no clue how to cut 4/4, 6/4 or 8/4 lumber without it.  If something goes bad in it and you are on a job its nice to know how to keep cuttting good lumber.

Yup, mines great. Has anyone had any problems with their kit?

I started out on an LT15 but if I had to go back to the manual scale it would take a little while to get back in the swing of it again.
