Anybody cut cottonwood? I have a lot of large cottonwood sitting next to my mill and I'm about to push into a big hole. I cannot seem to cut it without it either walking off my mill or deflecting my blade to bad to proceed. I want the lumber but I'm not about to put that kind of effort into it. I would really appreciate some advice, or an extra hand bucking it up for my stove. Any takers? Btw I'm in norther Michigan and there's big berthas came from a swampy area. There real cottonwood.

Any of the suggestions in the previous thread help at all?

What is the set of the blades? Increasing the set help?

How about the lube? Make any difference?

Enough horse power to cut the big cottonwood?

No belt slippage?

So many things it "could" be.

Cottonwood isn't the easiest wood to cut, for certain.

I'm not a fan of cottonwood, but if I have to cut it, I treat it like pine. plenty of set, sharp blade, a little faster feed rate. also, a higher hook angle works well in cottonwood...8-10 degrees. Cottonwood can be really wey, like sawing a ripe peach.  ;) :D
