That's some nice lookin' wood, for sure!  :)

Wish we had some Red Cedar in this area.  :-\

I have to agree with this.

I've only got about 20 acres of it on my place, maybe 25. ;D
Grows great there, and pretty fast too.

Manage 80 acre tree farm in central Missouri and Mesquite timber and about a gozillion saguaros in Arizona.

Nice, 6/4,8/4 best choice for these, you did good!  not many get that big without defects,  I bet your hanky was as wet as your forehead,   good job man,    david  and thanks to dadio for the usual good advice,
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

I disagree with your RARE comment..........I am just a few miles north of you (near the infamous WM store) and I could show you many large cedars. A few are even on my property.......A few months ago a logger in Anson county hauled away 2 huge truck loads of BIG ERC.  Your stuff is very nice but far from RARE. ERC is fairly common in metro areas like Charlotte. A few years ago a neighbor hauled me 3 large ERC, 9 pieces out of Charlotte. Made 8, 10,12, and 14 " lumber. These were yard trees, taken down by arborists in an older residential area.  Great stuff but far from rare.  I always watch for ERC as it is my favorite

.....but Fat olde elf......I do stick by my rare wide slabs in my area.   :)
And I agree with you....there are some large Cedar in our area.

However, I have shown pics of my wide 23" slabs. I have not been able to find pictures of 23" wide slabs or wider Cedar Slabs in my area. Nor have I found wider Cedar Slabs "for sale" in my area.

I saw a good bit of Cedar 8,10,12,14....not rare at all.....but 23"?

So in reality...mine are rare.....unless I see a lot of other Cedar slabs with solid hearts 23" or wider :)

The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

Congrats on the ERC.  The "rare" in my area would be that they appear to be clear and free of rot.   8)
