I ran across this link last night and sat and read the whole thing.... I figured some of you on here would really enjoy it too!!  I really like the way it's "told" and the pictures and explanations are excellent.

Thanks for posting that.  I'd always wondered how they high-loaded those horse drawn sleds.  Now I know.

It amazes me the work and conditions that our early settles had to endure back in the day. Very good post about the loggers. Thanks, bg

What a great find,  I laughed a bit when I saw the box of Kellogs Corn Flakes behind the gentlemen having pouring coffee.
I also enjoyed the photo's of the Dinner horn & Lumber Camp Kitchen staff,  3 of those fellows had ties on.

That is quite the link. I have it bookmarked. That will take me hours to read and go through the pictures.

I came across Paul Buffalos life history a couple years ago and never tire of reading it. He simply takes you back a hundred years and shows you how things once were...a wonderful resource.

Nice pictures and stories.

My Grandparents worked in logging camps here in the Adirondacks!

But I always wondered why they were referred to as "lumberjacks" when they worked with logs, not lumber!  smiley_confused

Maybe a better name would have been "timberjacks"!  smiley_curtain_peek

I can set and read/look at stuff like that all night. That was an excellent balance of pictures and reading. Thanks.
Give me a new saw chain and I can find you a rock in a heartbeat.
