this sounds bad, I have found in my limited timber experience, to get the tree down without a lot of explanation while doing so,  Not sure why this happened, maybe too confident?   A video would be good to go back and study after a safe escape has been made.  Hope he recovers from this one with minimal effects.
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

Not sure what happens as there was only that one picture, but it looked like a big old "wolf" pine tree. They may even have been limbing or bucking it and had it roll over on him.  There's certainly a jumble of BIG (and crooked) logs where the emergency guys are standing.
Weekend warrior, Peterson JP test pilot, Dolmar 7900 and Stihl MS310 saws and  the usual collection of power tools :)
