I might have used a piece of flat iron, but the engineering is there, more reach around the log.   Steve

Great idea. I have that same cant hook and used to have to pound the point in the log with a hammer so it wouldn't slip. I am glad it bent and I replaced it with a Logrite.

So Lyle you must be some kind of magician to get that through 'Planning'and past the 'ministry of silly walks'  all in one day. I know that doing the job was the easy part. cheers john
Saw millers are just carpenters with bigger bits of wood

The problem I keep having with cant hooks and peavys is the swinging arm is not long enough to bite A big log, they won't bite. The popular blue cant hook is a little better but still should have a longer swinging hook. Never seem to find the time to make one up. Frank C.

Just a little creative engineering! Nothing wrong with that! Heck, most of the equipment on our place has some of that in it...
