Thanks Delcy!  What I really want is my back to stay in place for a few days. Probably a wish I wont get cause I aint smart enough to stop and let it heal up.  Stacy was here Yesterday and I got a hug. She has to work today. Thats really all I needed.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

I got a hug fron both of my children,a new turkey deep frier, and my wonderful wife took me out for breakfast. On top of all of that it is sunny and in the low 70's without a cloud in the sky.
What a great fathers day! 8)

Ain't got my Father's day gifts from the kids or grandkids.  Mary had a movie DVD of  "The Last of the Mohicans" setting on my easy chair this morning.  Already had it on VHS and it wasn't on my top 10 list anyway.  Would rather had biscuits and gravy for breakfast.  Had cereal and now my bellybutton is rubbing my backbone.

Anyway,  I got my gift to my dad done with already.  A couple of weeks ago I had cleared out some old garden fence for him using the Terex and grapple.  Worked fine.  Took the brush-hog and mowed up the sprouts.  Dad went out later with his ax to whack off some stobs.   The second lick with the ax and the head staid put and the handle came back.    He wanted to borrow an ax to finish the job.  But I bought him a new handle and this morning put it in his ax head and sharpened it.  The head is a Stanley brand and of pretty good quality - much better than the cast iron junk in the hardware stores now days.

I walked up to their house and gave him his fixed ax and visited with them for about an hour.  Told him if he wears this one out,  I'd put him in another one.

Younger son Chris is to come down and grill us up some T-bone steaks for supper.  Besides my father's dad gift, it's also his late gift to Mary for her birthday, my coming up birthday gift,  and father's day gift to his granddad.  I'm sure he'd like it to cover all events for everyone for a full year.  BTW,  someone gave him the steaks.

To them Fathers who did not know what to do when the kids were new I give this advice for when they are older.
When I was a child it was often said "My Dad can beat up your Dad".  My Dad could whip a bear with a flyswatter and carry any thing there was.  He could drive a 16d nail with a single blow of his hammer.   Today most kids do not know their Fathers or any one to take the place of him.  Many kids do not know where their Fathers are or if even who they are.  This is sad.  So for those of you who have kids they need some one to look up to.  Sam's twin boys have been here to work with him and have seen me throw logs and large timbers.  Now  they think Sam and I are super human and have some respect for us.  They have a hero to look up to.
So you may not know what to do with a baby and that teenage boy may not listen to you any longer but the thing that is most important is that they have someone to look up to.  An honest, moral image to look at so one day they will know what to grow up to be.   The sins of the Father is passed on for many generations.  If you have faults that is ok, just try to become a better person for your children to follow in your footsteps.  The only perfect man was hung on a tree.  Once again the phrase "My Daddy ..." needs to ring out in our land.
My advice is just this.    Be there for them when they need you to be super human and bite your tongue because all they need is the assurance of your strong arms.
Happy Fathers Day to you all and may your children be blessed.

Your words are very wise Arkansawyer. Thank you for speaking them.

We all should remember from time to time how much our kids (all kids for that matter) look up to us as role models. Our goal should be to try to live up to their expectations, and never disappoint them.
Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings....
We simply continue to fly ........
on a broomstick.....
We are flexible like that.

Norm

That's nice of you Delcy. :)

My youngest son came up to visit for the weekend to celebrate father's day and Patty's b'day. The oldest son e-mailed me to say he just arrived in Houston for some more training. I called to save him the cost, cell phones are sure nice not having to pay long distance charges.

Sure makes an old dads day. :)

Our oldest ,Tom,  and wife had us up for a BBQ last night after we milked.

Daughter,  Carrie,  and her new husband met us in Springfield after church to help us pick out light fixtures for the new house and took us out to eat today.

Youngest son,  Dave ,  called to wish me a happy day and said he would be home for a visit next weekend.

The weather was beautiful today and I'm done with the milking and got my belly full.  Life is great ;D

We had a great first fathers day.  My wife was nice enough to get me (allow the purchase of) a new lawnmower.  Ferris 3000ZFhttp://www.ferrisindustries.com/mz_is3000.php.

But the best present came 4 months ago, which is why I can finally actually celebrate fathers day, BLAKE.  Here we are on the new mower:

And a little better picture of the mower.  You can see where her camera was focused...not on the mower!   ;D

Notice the bibbers.  He's ready to saw a few logs!

Great lookin' kid you got there.  Never too early to dress'em for success,  I always say!

BTW,  I got my T-Bone and it was the best steak I'd had in a long time.

Chris had to change the Dish to the History Channel and had the "Band of Brothers" series on.  Dad, WWII European war veteran, told son Chris a lot of his stories being in the engineering battalion including his experiences with the men of the 82 and 101 Airborne during the Battle of the Bulge.
