timberlinetree, don't think for one second that it was because of you. that man was determined to do evil and it would have happened to someone somewhere. when bad things happen, it makes people feel guilty or wonder why. God knows why and that is all we need to know. it made you more aware and somewhere down the road , if it hasn't happened already, you will make a difference most likely without even knowing it. you made a difference to me knowing that bad can happen and does happen!

point is we are WAY!! out in the country,on the county line. county sherriffs dispute whs area it is. its a long response time if I could even get out on my phone. I feel the need to be on top of anything that may come up.

yucon i know how you feel the Sheriff is half houre away under staffed and busey chaseing the drunk indians in Sisseton  i keep a gun on the headbord and one in the truck.

i guess most states are the same. if someone is trespassing on you'r place or stealing something you are not allowed to shoot them unless they are coming towards you and you are afraid they are going to hurt or kill you. i guess if they are leaving with you'r stuff you are supposed to ask do you need help loading that? don't shoot him in the back make sure he is facing you when you shoot. it seems that the law says that a thief has the right to make a living at his chosen trade.

that's sad but true! I have heard stories of the guy who set a bear trap for the guy who kept breaking in his window and the thief sued him when he got caught in the trap and won or the guy who broke in a garage and couldn't get out and sued because there was no food and water for the few days he was trapped in there and the thief won. what a world  :
