POSTON WIDEHEAD

A guy calls me at 5:30 while I was cleaning up.
He got right to the point.......he says........I have 12 / 5 foot old railroad ties.....can you stand them straight up on your mill and saw the ends off flush?

I was tired....dirty.....thirsty and about to laugh in this guys ear.......but I kept my professional composure and politely said.......I'm sorry, but I have more work than I can do right now but let me give you the number of my friend who has a mill just like mine. He can help you.

I expect a phone call or nasty text sometime in the morning.  :D

The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

Especially if he doesn't remove the "S" shaped hunks of metal driven in each end...

You don't need to be messing with someone that unblessed without a shred of common sense.  When it came to handing out brains, all he got was those metal "S" thingys that are hammered into the ends of the railraod ties, and they were all rusty to boot.

Good referral  ;D.

I'm not sure a Lucas mill will reach that high.

Just need to drop them end first in a post hole, and flip them for the other end.. cutting rocks and sand and whatever else is buried in the cracks as they are used.   ;D

Wondering why square ends on old RR ties are needed, that a chainsaw wouldn't do the job?

I can think of a number of better ways to square the ends.

Ayup, sometimes I would not even get one cut through the RR tie and I would have to sharpen the chain. Sure does give you some practice on sharping.  :o

Prolly the guy knew that from experience, so was looking to where and who he could farm it out. But Poston didn't bite.
