I am wondering about a couple of things... I find that after coating the ends of logs with Anchorseal, lumber crayons and "Sharpees" do not write well. Being new to milling all I am writing is notes to self, ie diameter, species, maybe intended cutting pattern. I see pics posted of logs painted different colors and other info written on them.

I was wondering if you guys could expand on these items... Thanks, Greg

Ribsy, only thing I can think of is a can of spray paint mayby you could take the tip and small tube used on WD-40 and put it on a paint can for finer lines. I never mark logs as after many years I just look and can tell what I need to know. Suppose if I had logs from several owners I would need to mark-em. Frank C.

I took the slats from an old set of window blinds and cut them into 6" strips.  I write what I need to know on there with a sharpie and attach it to the end of the log with a staple or an aluminum roofing nail.
