It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others

I knew an older man who used to swap out one motor on his snow blower and garden tiller. If the switch over was easy you could greatly cut down on the number of small motors needed in a household. I have thought tiller, wood splitter, snow blower and lawn mower would be examples of machines that could use the same motor if the shift over time was short and easy.

Had a little trouble understanding him  :D

Pretty good idea.  Wonder if its an off-the-shelf item over there.  From the looks of the prop, he seems to be using it a lot but could use a little down trim on the boat.

Neat little gizmo.  Might work be about right for a canoe.  As it is if he brought lunch with him it might capsize the boat.

DR Products makes something like that now. If I recall, you can swap a mower head (or was it one of their walk-behind brush mowers?) and a snowblower.  The snow blower was only single-stage, however, so I never seriously looked at it.

Seems like it might develop problems if operated extensively at partial throttle settings, since a chainsaw engine is made for either idle or WOT. Hopefully the prop provides enough of a load to prevent over-speeding the engine at WOT.
