Walgreens has a product called ivy wash, it's not cheap, but it really works.  It dramatically relieves itching and helps it clear up much faster.

I think, from personal experience, that if your body has a bad enough allergic reaction the rash spreads all over your body beyond where the oil contacts. I'very gotten PI on my arm, and washed it off very thoroughly,  and still ended up with it all over my body.

My first exposure to PI was what I call a systemic reaction.  I was 14? or so...  The original spot looked like a chemical burn and I had blisters pretty much everywhere.  Arms, legs, hands, chest, abdomen, front, back, top, and bottom.  Everything since seems small by comparison.
