Magnetic lights worked great. Be sure to tie them off as well. I lost one set to the road this way. I used zip ties and cut them once I got to the mill site. No issues thereafter.

Mill was all finished up yesterday, Was too excited and forgot to take pictures. I also finished my first saw job which was not favorable but was a learning experience. An older guy down the road is trying to build a house from scratch and im guessing very little 1st of the month income. he asked to if I could saw a few pine a small cherry, I said yes I charge .25. he said he was broke and would be the first of the month, I told him I would do it for half the lumber, I needed to learn how to level and what all else I had to do, So I loaded up this morning and traveled .10 of a mile down the road. Setup was better than I expected took me around 20 min. End tally on lumber was 550ft and was finished by 1 (started at 9). he was happy and I was Very happy with my mill and how it cut.

There she is all set up, total cost ended up being $860 but I am tickled and ready to saw! One step closer to WMHD

OOPs Wrong picture, Here is the mill finished and on the job.

I guess I need to invest in some paint but a lot of work to catch up before that happens.

Without a stash of logs to practice/learn on, sawing on shares is a good thing, especially when you have a need or use for the lumber.  That, plus you helped a neighbor out.  Feels good doesn't it??   :)

Yes it does, I kinda feel bad for him, He wanted to cut 3 more pines and saw on shares But I have 120 acres to cut from so I really don't  have a need for the lumber, I will prob end up sawing them for him after I (if I) get caught up.

In over 12 years of sawing, I have only sawed on shares once, but I have sawed for free many times.    ;D

Believe me, it will come back many times over.   :)

Yes,buy some paint. I don't paint some of my stuff, but it never leaves The Farm either. People want to see nice looking equipment. You are on your way to a WM. You did a mighty fine job.

Making the Norwood mobile was one of the best decisions I've ever made, after just a few days I am booked up for the next 4-5 weeks, and still getting calls, one guy has around 80-90 poplars 8-14' already on the ground and stacked in two whacks, I will start Monday morning, not sure how long it will take with a manual mill, but I am excited bout it.

Looks great and glad it's working out :)

I noticed you planned on a basket too?  I love mine!  In fact I can't imagine the mill without it!!!  I use it for my dogs, cant hook, jack, tools etc and am so used to having it that it's just natural now to toss the cant hook into it, grab the clamp, set and mill -- it's a routine now and I just can't see not having the basket!
