mesquite buckeye

Went down to pick up my stepdaughter this weekend and the light was really nice. About 75 miles away from Tucson and about 2000 ft higher. The natural vegetation here is grassland. Very pretty this time of year. This area is the headwater area for the Santa Cruz River, which heads south into Mexico then loops back north and passes through the west side of Tucson on its way to the Gila River and the Gulf of California.

Anyway, enjoy. ;D

The movie "Oklahoma" was filmed here. 8) 8) 8)

Beautiful landscape.

Funny to see the leaves green this time of year. Our colors have peaked and most of the maple leaves have fallen.

I used to hunt ducks and quail there when I was in college a long, long, long, time ago.   I remember some big mesquites and a few burls back in some of the small canyon areas.   Thanks for the memories.

Probably at least 10 degrees cooler than Tucson and gets probably at least 1 1/2 times as much rain. Those trees by the pond are pretty big Fremont Cottonwood trees, about 8 ft dbh.
