What do you all charge for cutting battons, using the customers logs? .25 each doesn't pay, .50 is closer, but dont know if its better to do them at less as to not offend the customer. It looks easy to them, and is, but ties up the mill. I dont charge for stickers, maybe I should think of battons the same way? What do you all think?

I usually cut a bunch of boards in increments of 3", that is 15",12", 9", 6", then flip a bunch of them up on their edge and drop down 3" and cut, return, drop another 3" and so on.

Then I charge by the board foot!

Folks here use 4" battens, so they are just 1X4's charged at the bf rate.

I do the same as chuck but I get .75 a ft on cutting them they are a pain those stickers are also I charge
.25 cents for them stickers I saw a 8' can't 12x12 then saw it both ways they're a pain also

I prefer the look of 4 inch ones too. But I think there are only two like it in the state of Maine. One where I got the idea from and mine.

I've had customers request 2" battons and I suggested 3", so the next year he pulled the 2" and replaced them with 3".  ;)

I cut 7.5" boards and 2.5" battons. 
But it's those *DanG circle saw marks.  I think I will have to build a circular board scratch-er.
