Hello,
I just purchased a North Star log splitter with a Honda engine at northern toolhttps://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=position"> Note:Please read the Forestry Forum's postion on this company. It works well and seems to be well made. The only complaint so far is the fact that it does not have a hydraulic filter. I have bought one to put on it but, I want to make sure I got the right one. I bought a 25 micron filter and I need help on where to put it. There are flow arrows on the body but I am not sure which way to put them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my suggestion would be on the line that leads from the resevour to the pump its low pressure and will protect the pump from contamanants :)

You will need to put it on the return line going back to the tank. If you try to filter on the suction side it will starve the pump. It makes perfect sense to put it on the suction side to protect the pump as James suggests but unfortunately that will cause problems.

I agree with Mark, I already tried the other way and it didn't work. Pump was way slow  ::).

Old Town,

Mark is "right on".
The arrows designate the direction of the oil flow.

Thanks to all. I went to a Lowe's store today and looked at how the filter was rigged on a Tro Built splitter. The help I recieved here and there is enough to make me feel comfortable to install the filter in the right place. Thanks again for the prompt help.
